New Member Spotlight: CJ Washington

CJ Washington, RCEN’s Assistant Vice President of Finance and Assistant Vice President at BB&T, is a new member to RCEN. She attended her first ABWA National Conference October 26-29, 2016.

Please describe your role at BB&T.
I am a mortgage loan officer. I provide residential financing throughout BB&T’s footprint of approximately 38 states and my immediate service area includes Chesterfield, Chester and Hopewell.

Please tell us about your family.

My husband, Ayele Bomani, and I have been married for 10 years. Between the two of us we have 3 grown children and 5 grandchildren.

Why did you join RCEN?

I joined RCEN to network with professional women and to enjoy the benefits of the professional development provided to the membership through ABWA.

Please tell us your expectations before you attended your first ABWA National Conference.

Honestly, I didn’t know what to expect. I just went with an open mind hoping to take away something that I could use professionally as well as personally. WOW! It was all that and so much more.

What is the biggest or best thing you took from your experience at the ABWA Conference in October?

The biggest thing I took away from the experience was “UNITY”. These women are truly unified. I could see this was more of a sisterhood for them. The love, support and bond they share is amazing. I am so proud to be associated with this organization.

What do you like to do to unwind?
To unwind, I enjoy yoga. Just 15 minutes is enough to clear my head and relax me.
