River City Relay
 |
Why will business women and men
of Richmond join hundreds of others on the streets in
sneakers and office attire in September 2010? For sure to
burn calories. Certainly to beat their competition and have
fun. Primarily to support the education and professional
development of Richmond area business women and students.
The
River City Relay is a walking relay race
sponsored by the River City Express Network (RCEN) of the
American Business Womens Association (ABWA). Teams of five
race along a course through downtown Richmond. Each team of
five members must wear business attire and sport shoes. They
carry a briefcase containing street shoes and a baton to
pass to relay partners along the route. Teams must walk the
route, following pedestrian traffic rules, including
crosswalks and stoplights. The course has five legs, each
approximately 1/3 to 1/2 mile long. The top three winning
teams will receive medals.
