"BOOMERS, GEEKS and GEEZERS: Communication and Motivation Across the Generations"
Presented by Tom Davidson, founder and president, Davidson Leadership

Do you have an older relative who struggles with even the simplest technical devices? ...or is that you?! Have you been amazed to see how fast kids can text message each other and keep 14 conversations straight...except yours? Have you ever looked at how some of your younger associates were dressed for work and wondered, "What were they thinking?!"

What makes today's generations tick and how can you better attract, retain and motivate these diverse customers and employees? Without knowing, you could be alienating rather than mobilizing your stakeholders. This memorable presentation explains the divergent values and behaviors of the four generations currently populating today's customer base and workforce. Audiences learn to appreciate each generation's unique features and take away valuable tips for better communication, motivation and teamwork. Tom makes extensive use of props and examples that are not easily forgotten and shares principles that can be put to use at once.

American Business Women's Day Celebration

September 19     Reception 5:30 pm     Awards Dinner 6:30 pm
Richmond Sheraton West
Keynote Speaker: Lillian Lambert, LilCo Enterprises

The first American Business Women's Day (ABW Day) was celebrated in 1982. It is a national day for American to recognize the achievements of not only ABWA members but also the millions of employed women in the U. S. It's observed on September 22, the anniversary of ABWA's founding. Since 1982, the Richmond ABWA Area Council has hosted the Richmond celebration of ABW Day.

The 2008 celebration will include the traditional Area Council Friendship, Leadership, and Scholarship Awards. As in years past, area Chapter/Network Women of the Year and Top Ten nominees will be honored. We will also honor District IV’s past national ABWA officers and Top Ten businesswomen. We are happy to announce that this year’s special guests will include ABWA National President Lina Lawson and District IV Vice President Beatrice E. Burton. Lawson is Co-owner and Senior Designer of Twinz Co. Graphic Design and a member of Leading Women Express Network in Bryan, Texas. Burton is  a Senior Accounting Analyst with Tredegar Film Products Corporation and a member of the Cavalier Chapter of ABWA in Richmond.
