River City Cares
The members of River City Express Network are
committed to giving back to their community. Individually, they are active
in such organizations as Junior Achievement, Meals on Wheels, the American
Red Cross, the Boys & Girls Clubs, Make-A-Wish Foundation, the American
Heart Association, Virginia Supportive Housing, and Girl Scouts.
As a group, the members work on several
community-based projects each year. If you’re looking for a way to
participate in the community, but don’t know where to start, join us for our
next project! Contact
Karen Houghton for more information.
| COMMUNITY KITCHEN |
|
The Community Kitchen is a state-of-the-art production facility that provides meals for thousands of vulnerable children, seniors, and homebound neighbors in Central Virginia. A team of culinary professionals and committed volunteers, including members from RCEN, creates each dish with pride, making the Community Kitchen’s end results both nutritious and appealing for those who cannot provide meals for themselves.

| CENTRAL VIRGINIA FOOD BANK |
|
The Central Virginia Food Bank brings hunger relief to 31 counties
and five cities through a comprehensive approach that includes
acquiring needed foods and distributing these items to communities,
families, and individuals that need them to meet their unique needs.
Each year, RCEN sponsors its PB&T peanut butter and tuna drive to
help restock the CVFB for the summer months.

| RICHMOND METROPOLITAN HABITAT FOR HUMANITY |
|
Habitat for Humanity is committed to making affordable and safe housing a reality for low-income families. And with the help of donations, volunteers, proceeds from our ReStore, and hard work from our homebuyers, we're making that dream possible for hundreds of residents in the Richmond Metropolitan area. RCEN members have volunteered as builders, worked in the ReStore and have raise funds for Richmond Habitat by sponsoring an eBay auction.

| THE SALVATION ARMY ANGEL TREE |
|
The Salvation Army Angel Tree program, in partnership with NBC 12, makes available to the community thousands of angels to adopt. Each angel represents an under-privileged child who without the support of the community would not have a Christmas. Members of the community choose angels from trees displayed at area malls and corporations and provide new clothing and gifts for their Christmas. RCEN volunteers sort and pack these donated gifts.
